Thor movies is a 2011 film based on American superhero comic book character of the same name published by Marvel Comics and is the fourth film released in the cinematic Marvel Universe.
The film was released on April 21, 2011 in Australia and is set for release on May 6, 2011 in the United States.
Thor was also released in 3-D and IMAX 3D. The film stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins, Stellan Skarsgård and Kenneth Branagh directing a screenplay by Ashley Edward Miller, Zack Stentz, and Don Payne.
The project of a film adaptation of Thor was in “development hell” for several years before Marvel Studios, signed Protosevich to write his screenplay in 2006. Matthew Vaughn was to direct the film in late 2008 for a premiere in 2010. Branagh replaced Vaughn at the end of 2008, and the film’s release was postponed until 2011. The main characters were issued in 2009 and principal photography took place from January to May 2010.
Thor Movies Plot
In 970 AD, Odin (Anthony Hopkins), King of Asgard, waging war against the Frost Giants of Jotunheim and their leader Laufey (Colm Feore), to prevent the conquest of the Nine Kingdoms, beginning with Earth. Asgardian Warriors defeat the Ice Giants and leverage their power source, the Casket of Ancient Winters.
Currently, Thor, Odin’s son (Chris Hemsworth) prepares to ascend the throne as king of Asgard, but is interrupted when the Giants attempt to retrieve the coffin Frost. Against the order of Odin, Thor traveled to Jotunheim to address Laufey, accompanied by his brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston), childhood friend Sif (Jaimie Alexander) and the three warriors: Volstagg (Ray Stevenson), Fandral (Joshua Dallas) and Hogun (Tadanobu Asano). A battle ensues Odin forces to intervene and save their lives, the destruction of the fragile truce between the two races. For his arrogance, Odin Thor strips his divine power and exiled him to Earth, accompanied by his hammer – and the source of his power – Mjolnir, now protected by a spell to allow only the worthy to exercise it.
Thor comes to New Mexico and is the scientist Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), his assistant, Darcy Lewis (Kat Dennings) and mentor Dr. Erik Selvig (Stellan Skarsgard), while Mjolnir is discovered by the agent Phil Coulson ( Clark Gregg) and confiscated by SHIELD Coulson Jane takes the strength of data on the wormhole that gave Thor to Earth.
Thor, after discovering the location of Mjolnir, attacks the SHIELD facility to retrieve it, only to find himself can not lift, and is captured by SHIELD He is finally released and is resigned to exile on Earth while develops a romance with Jane.
Meanwhile, Loki discovers that Laufey biological child and adopted by Odin after the war. Odin had used magic to bind Loki Frost giant nature and appearance, but has begun to assert itself when it comes into physical contact with their people and their artifacts.
Loki, Odin had the intention to learn to use it has a way of bridging between the two races and achieving peace is unlikely right now thanks to Thor. When Odin, overcome stress, falls in Odinsleep – a prolonged period of deep sleep to recover – Loki becomes king and Laufey offers the opportunity to kill Odin and recover the coffin.
Sif and the Warriors Three, unhappy with the article by Loki, the attempt to find a way to end the exile of Thor, Heimdall convincing (Idris Elba), guardian of the Bifrost Bridge – the means to travel between worlds – to allow way to Earth. Aware of his plan, Loki sent the Destroyer, a seemingly indestructible robot, to pursue and kill Thor. Sif and the Warriors Three are Thor, but they are attacked and defeated by the Destroyer, forcing Thor to make sacrifices to save them and Jane. In doing so, shows that exercise is worthy of Mjolnir, the hammer and back to him, restoring his powers and allowing him to defeat the Destroyer before preparing to return to Asgard and deal with Loki.
In Asgard, Loki betrays and kills Laufey, revealing his true plan to use your attack against the life of Odin as an excuse to destroy the bridge Jotunheim Bifröst and prove himself worthy of Odin.
Thor arrives and fights with his brother before destroying the bridge Bifrost to stop his plan, stranding himself in Asgard. Odin wakes up and warns the brothers to fall into the chasm created following the destruction of the bridge Bifrost, but Loki, Odin believe that it has not, he fell to his apparent death.
Thor makes peace with Odin, admitting he is not ready to be king, while on Earth Jane and her team search for a way to open a portal to Asgard, so that Jane can meet Thor.
In a post-credits scene, Dr. Selvig is taken to a SHIELD facility where Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) asks him to study the Cosmic Cube, an element of incalculable power. Selvig is revealed to be under the control of Loki, which is now on Earth.
