Some people look upon watching these movies online as a type of criminal act. They feel that by watching these films, we are stealing from the investors who have spent millions on producing these movies. It is also argued that free stuff on the web is killing the movie business because investors now see it as too much of a risk. It is often the opinion of these people that there should be harsh punishments handed out for those who provide this material and for anyone who watches it.

Claiming that watching copyrighted material is a form of stealing doesn’t really make sense. If this was true then you would also be stealing if you read a book that someone lent you. There is no decline in the amount of movies in circulation since we started watching them online so it is not true to say we are stealing. It is also an exaggeration to say that such action is killing the movie industry. From the amount of tosh they continue to release each week it is obvious that there is still plenty of money to be made from movies. These people really should learn to control their greed and accept that the world has changed.
