Jumping the broom is an American comedy film directed by Salim Akil and producers are Tracey E. Edmonds, Elizabeth Hunter, TD Jakes, Glendon Palmer and Curtis Wallace.
The title of the film Jumping the Broom comes from the African-American tradition of the bride and groom jumping over a broom ceremony after being married.
TriStar Pictures is distributing the film in the U.S. on a first date of May 6, 2011.
Synopsis
The play is about two families living on opposite sides of the social circle and meet for a wedding in the town of Chilmark on Martha’s Vineyard Island in Massachusetts, where two members of both families married.
Film was shot in Blue Rocks, Nova Scotia, Canada.
