The Goonies – One of Spielberg’s Classic Movies

Stories about pirates and hidden treasure from another place and time are often the stuff that fills the dreams of young children and teenagers. But to a group of small-town kids living in Astoria, Ohio, these adventure stories and quests were more like an objective than a dream. Any fan in a Goonies tee will claim that the film greatly influenced their lives back when they were little kids dreaming of big adventures.
Directed by Richard Donner and written by Steven Spielberg and Chris Columbus and released in 1985, The Goonies is an American adventure-comedy film that captured the hearts of young viewers and nostalgic adults alike with its exciting plot and whimsical storytelling.
The Goonies tells the story of a group of children from the “Goon Docks” hoping to save their neighbourhood from being turned into a country club by searching for 17th-century pirate One-Eyed Willie’s buried treasure. Some of the highly talented young actors that starred in the movie are Sean Astin, who played Mikey; Josh Brolin, who played Brand; Jeff Cohen, who played Chunk; and Corey Feldman, who played Mouth.
The Goonies received positive reviews from film critics, and was extremely entertaining for children and teen audiences. The film earned over $61 million in the United States, which landed it in the top ten highest grossing films in the US in 1985. The popularity of The Goonies also created a big impact on pop culture, as it led to the creation of several fansites, as well as the thriving sales of items related to the film, such as special edition DVDs, the movie soundtrack, Goonies tees and toys.
Nowadays, The Goonies is still as popular with fans now as it was with audiences when it was first released 25 years ago. There is no question that fans will continue to watch the film in their Goonies t shirts for a long time, while remembering their childhood years of make-believe stories and adventures.
